Rilumo is a video chat app with a twist: instead of your camera feed, you show up as a 3D avatar that moves and expresses itself just like you do. Talk, laugh, and react in real time, minus the pressure of being on camera.
Why we built it
Video chat is a great way to meet people, but it comes with a catch — you have to put your actual face on screen, in your actual room, in front of a stranger. That's a real barrier for a lot of people. We wanted the connection and expressiveness of video chat without that trade-off, so we built Rilumo around an avatar that carries your expressions instead of your camera feed.
How it works
- Pick an avatar from our gallery or upload your own, then hop in.
- Your webcam reads your facial expressions and head movement right there in your browser and maps them onto your avatar in real time — the video itself never leaves your device.
- We match you with someone else looking to chat, and you connect over a direct, peer-to-peer video call.
- Not vibing with your match? Reroll and we'll find you someone new.
Keeping it a good place to be
Rilumo is for adults 18 and up. Every call has a Report and Block button, and our moderation team reviews reports to keep the community safe. If you ever run into someone behaving badly, please report them — it helps us take action fast.
